Beginning/Intermediate Acting Mini-Session
with Instructor Suzanne Reese-Mills

Ages: 9th - 12th grades 

Dates: October 25 - November 15, Tuesdays at 5:30 PM 

Location: The Ritz Studio Annex (next door to the Ritz Theatre)

Course Descriptions: 
Beginning Acting
An introduction to non-musical Theatre through class discussion as well as solo and small group performance in a group setting. Students will have assigned pieces which they will rehearse and refine with the group. We will explore and interact with various acting techniques from the great theatre practitioners, with focus on Stanislavski, Adler, and Grotowski.

Intermediate Acting
A continued exploration of non-musical Theatre through class discussion as well as solo and small group performance in a group setting. Students will have assigned pieces which they will rehearse and refine with the group. We will explore and interact with various acting techniques from the great theatre practitioners, with focus on Hagen and Meisner.

These courses meet simultaneously and will work together occasionally. 

Instructor Bio: Suzanne Reese-Mills received her Master of Fine Arts in Musical Theater from The Boston Conservatory and worked with Boston area theaters as a performer and dialect coach in the years following. During her time at the Conservatory and in the years since, Suzanne has specialized in Voice and Speech work, guiding actors and singers to discover their natural voices and explore US and world dialects. Before her graduate study, Suzanne received her BS in Psychology from UNA with a minor in Music.  Suzanne returned home to the Shoalsa area in 2019 and now teaches at UNA in the Music and Theatre Departments in addition to teaching and directing for the Tennessee Valley Art Association.

Mini-Session Fee: $35

Upon registration, you will receive a Code of Conduct and Liability Waiver to sign and return.
