Beginning/Intermediate Voice
with Instructor Suzanne Reese-Mills

Level: Beginner/Intermediate, 9th - 12th grades 

Dates: January 10 -February 14, Tuesdays at 7:30 PM 
(6 classes)

Location: The Ritz Studio Annex (next door to the Ritz Theatre)

Materials: Students will be asked to purchase sheet music for individual assignments.


Course Description: 

An exploration of classic and modern Musical Theatre history and repertoire through group discussion as well as solo performance in group setting with emphasis on vocal expression and song interpretation. Students will be given a survey of Musical Theatre history, styles, and cultural significance, and they will have assigned solo pieces which they will rehearse and refine with the help of the group. 


Instructor Bio: Suzanne Reese-Mills received her Master of Fine Arts in Musical Theater from The Boston Conservatory and worked with Boston area theaters as a performer and dialect coach in the years following. During her time at the Conservatory and in the years since, Suzanne has specialized in Voice and Speech work, guiding actors and singers to discover their natural voices and explore US and world dialects. Before her graduate study, Suzanne received her BS in Psychology from UNA with a minor in Music.  Suzanne returned home to the Shoalsa area in 2019 and now teaches at UNA in the Music and Theatre Departments in addition to teaching and directing for the Tennessee Valley Art Association.
